Cardography was created by Sam to make a large Pokemon card collection understandable without surrendering it to a closed platform. It brings card identification, variant-aware checklists, spreadsheet migration, owned and wanted lists, and portable exports into one practical workspace.
Collection spreadsheets are flexible, but they drift: set names differ, variants disappear into notes, quantities get duplicated, and it becomes difficult to see what is missing. Cardography was built to turn those rows into a consistent, searchable collection without taking control away from the collector.

Pokemon remains the focus because its long history, frequent releases and variant complexity reward a dedicated data model. Cardography would rather handle one collecting world carefully than flatten many hobbies into generic inventory.

Card records are imported from structured source files and reputable card-data references.
Names, sets, numbers, print details, finishes, promos, and variants are compared before a row is treated as a confident match.
Low-confidence imports stay out of member collections, and automated image matches enter an admin review queue.
Collectors can report a card URL and supporting detail; records and images can then be corrected, replaced, or hidden.
Useful stories include collection size, the previous tracking method, import experience, time saved, sets completed and whether variants were handled accurately.
